I began E Pluribus at the outset of the pandemic in March 2020, using as a starting
point a recent strategy of weaving with strands of paper. This work grew over nine
months, taking on a novelistic quality, and inviting found objects into it that engaged a
language of weaving. Because of the fraught moment in time that formed the context
around the making of this work, it accrued personal meanings of repair in a fractured
time, and of dissonant “communities” of visual color that inhabit the same space
uneasily, simultaneously coming together and coming apart, unravelling even as they
strive to connect.
